Lead Investigator: Karyn Marsh Institution : New York University School of Medicine E-Mail : karyn.marsh@nyumc.org Proposal ID : 155 Proposal Description: This study examines socio-economic status as a key focus in AD, conceptually drawing connections that link race, class, and cognitive impairment. The specific aims of this study are to (1) Compare the differences in the reported age of onset of AD and rate of cognitive decline between black and white older adults. (2) Compare the differences in the reported age of onset of AD and rate of cognitive decline between black and white older adults across socioeconomic groups. (3) Determine whether the effect of socioeconomic status on age of onset of AD and rate of cognitive decline vary as a function of race. (4) Determine whether these health outcomes are worse as a function of race at lower levels of SES achievement as compared to high.
